I just got the first secondary node for this cluster in process. It is a
screaming machine; a Pentium 75-200 150Mhz with 29684KB of memory.
damnsmalllinux is all I have gotten to run on it..... Well, it will run on it
if the ethernet card isn't pluged in. It just kind of sits there saying that
eth0 was detected and that it is waiting for a ipaddress through DHCP (even
though it was pluged into the main PC and addressed). So let's let it sit a
little..... WOW, I just looked on the computer and it loaded with the
ethernet card this time. But it does not see the ethernet card. It won't ping
it. It isn't listed in ifconfig. Unfortunately, lspci wasn't included in my
edition of damnsmal... it also says something to the effect of:
eth0: command 0x2804 did not complete! Status= 0xfff
and then it would repeat about 15 times with the 0x2804 changing
So it looks as if I will have to put real Debian on it (none of those knoppix
knock-offs). I say debian because I know that it will allow me to choose the
WM and other things so I can keep it small.
There is another option.... I can configure the BIOS to boot off of the
network.
