Again, I answer myself.
I got on the #wine IRC channel and asked my question. The authoritative
answer was that it won't work. WINE talks to any drive via the Linux
filesystem and has no provisions to use the SCSI generic (sg) device or
any other ability to pass non-filesystem SCSI commands to a SCSI device
storage device. :^(
I must hunt for a different answer.
