I took and passed the RHCE exam last fall. I took it mainly because my
employer paid for it. Also, the studying forced me to bone up on Linux
administration, which should come in handy when (if) we move from Solaris to
Linux. I've been primarily a Solaris admin for about 7 years. I'm not
certified, but I've never found that to be a problem when changing jobs. No
employer has ever required it for employment, or even asked about it in an
interview. Linunx/Solaris/AIX admin friends of mine who work at a local
company that is talking about layoffs have told me that, as they search for
new employment, employers only seem to be asking about RHCE certification,
and not about any other Linux distribution certifications or UNIX
certifications.

HTH.
