Wow, I appreciate all the good feedback I've been getting.
The reason I started this thread was because I'm planning on ordering a
motherboard upgrade soon, probably from mwave.com or newegg.com. (I'm
waiting on a client to pay me, or for the price of RAM to drop, whichever
comes first.) The last time I did so I had the unpleasant surprise that my
existing 2x AGP board would not work in the new motherboard. It had to be
4x or greater, so I ran to Fry's that same day and got one. This time I
figured I'd order the video card along with everything else, save a little
money. The on-line specs for this particular Asus motherboard do seem to
indicate that it only supports 8x AGP - though of course, you could use a PCI
board instead, but it seems to be a bit of a waste of its capabilities.
