Subject: seyon

I decided to try another communications program besides minicom (this one
seems to be a bit easier than minicom). This is beside trhe point (or should
I say comment/question) I want to make. That is: Cisco is a Windows-centric
kind of company in that I think they would refer to ports as com. I don't
know if this is true but to my untrained mind it makes sense. So then tell
me, how do I refer to the switch?
Here is what I tried. (in seyon you can refer to a specific device)
bmike1@2[bmike1]$ seyon -modems /dev/ttyS1
bmike1@2[bmike1]$ seyon -modems /dev/ttyS0
bmike1@2[bmike1]$ seyon -modems /dev/ttyS2
bmike1@2[bmike1]$ seyon -modems /dev/ttyS3
bmike1@2[bmike1]$ seyon -modems /dev/ttyS3
bmike1@2[bmike1]$ seyon -modems /dev/ttyS4
bmike1@2[bmike1]$ seyon -modems /dev/ttyS5
bmike1@2[bmike1]$ seyon -modems /dev/ttyS6
bmike1@2[bmike1]$ seyon -modems /dev/ttyS7
bmike1@2[bmike1]$ seyon -modems /dev/ttyS8
bmike1@2[bmike1]$ seyon -modems com1

but ttyS3 (and S5 and S6) did give me a differant error message than the
others. It gave me a bunch of ioctl input/output errors and then told me:

So I suppose this means that it sees the device as ttyS3 and that there is a
file in the switch OS called '/OFV/startup' which the com program is unable
to open.

I just got done a second ago playing with minicom again (maybe it will work
configured to use /dev/ttyS3) but it didn't work. Then I thought to myself
that maybe I could Mount it.

    bmike1@2[bmike1]$ sudo mount /dev/ttyS3 /mnt/removable
mount: /dev/ttyS3 is not a block device
    bmike1@2[bmike1]$

(I choose the removable directory to mount to because I'm not using it now)

Any ideas as to what I should do now?
I thought that perhaps there was a message of some kind in the root directory
but when I looked there wassn't one. So I created it and got a new error:

    Modem `/dev/ttyS3' is Available.
Error: /OFV/ Could not open the file 'startup'
Notice: Tried the default directory '~/.seyon'
    Notice: Tried the current directory
    Error: parse error in ``@t)st''
    Error: ioctl-get: Input/output error

I need to go to bed now. Goodnight.
