Subject: Re: memory and Debian
OK I have confirmed below is the output from "free" before and after
recompiling with the high mem option for the kernel on Debian. I did
not add any additional memory to this system I just recompiled the
kernel; talk about free memory. I gainaed about 100 megs of memory by
just recompiled with HIGH-MEM turned on and I configured it for 4 gigs.

Before recompile with high mem turned off
 free
             total used free shared buffers
cached
Mem: 903688 860508 43180 0 91352
658556
-/+ buffers/cache: 110600 793088
Swap: 2032212 0 2032212

After with high mem turned on to 4 gigs.

free
             total used free shared buffers
cached
Mem: 1032120 52632 979488 0 2424
17136
-/+ buffers/cache: 33072 999048
Swap: 2032212 0 2032212

Thanks everyone that is great.

Jim
