Highpoint in LInux 2.6

I have been using a HPT370 raid controller for quite some time now, and
I'm upgrading that machine to linux 2.6.
2.6 does not have any IDE raid support as they claim the device mapper
should work for most ide raid systems.

Does anyone know where to find information on the device mapper and how
I could setup my hpt raid to use the device-mapper?
