For the brand new newbie (sp) I tend to agree with Michael. Many (if not most) people (especially new Newbie's) want answers, not questions (i.e. which distro). This brings to mind the simplest to use which may or may not be Mepis.
Those with a little geek hiding inside will eventually break free and start developing questions and migrate to the distro of their choice.
This brings us to the "Hosts". Folks that greet the attendees, ask a few questions, determine if they want "answers" or a "learning experience" and direct them to a suitable distro.
