One idea is to use very short DNS time-to-lives (TTL) and then have some
monitoring tool frequently check the web service. If unavailable (maybe
for two probes) have the DNS adjusted to point to other box.
But if you have dynamic websites that have data being recorded (using
MySQL for example), you will also need to consider how those services and
data are mirrored too.
