For S & G's I bought one of the Hauppage WinTV cards yesterday (Fry's
$49) stuck it in this morning and got it to work with minimal fuss.
Turns out Fedora had xawtv already installed and kudzu recognized the
hardware and installed the module for it automatically.
BTW, apt-get dist-upgrade worked very well from RH 9 to Fedora / 561
packages - approximately 2.5 hours (had to go back and get 5 packages
that timed out)
Anyway, one of the intentions was to discover suitability for replacing
the tv in my bedroom with this - so I really didn't care much about pvr
(mythtv) but I thought I would get full screen on this 15" LCD screen -
xavtv -v 2 -f (verbose logging and full screen) gives me this message...
ioctl: VIDIOCGCAP(name="BT878(Hauppauge (bt878))";type=0xeb
[CAPTURE,TUNER,OVERLAY,CLIPPING,FRAMERAM,SCALES];channels=4;audios=1;maxwidth=768;maxheight=480;minwidth=48;minheight=32): ok
Which seems to track with what I am seeing - only about 768 x 480 pixel
image in full screen (rest of the screen has a blacked out border). Are
there any reasonably cheap TV cards that will fill 1024 x 768 ???
