FWIW, Cox only checks the sending IP. I never use my @cox.net email address
when I'm sending email from home. I set the From: address of my messages to
one of the 3 or 4 accounts I use, depending on the recipient of the message.
I think I even read something on Cox's site once that mentioned that using a
"vanity domain" email address was okay with them.
