Okay, that just means you need to do this as root. Which you already

Okay, there aren't any errors, so it looks like this worked.

Again, no errors, so it looks like the module loaded properly. When you =

'lsmod | grep e100', do you see it? Does it say "unused" next to it? Li=
ke

If so, this probably isn't the right module for your hardware. If the
module is listed and it doesn't say "unused," it looks like you're in
business.

Okay, I think this is just complaining about the IP address that you trie=

to assign to this interface. I don't think 255.255.255.1 is a valid
address. If the module wasn't loaded or you loaded the wrong one, you wo=
uld
probably get a message like this instead:

eth0: unknown interface: No such device
Try this command instead:
$ sudo ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.1=20
$ sudo ifconfig eth0 up
See if you get any errors. If not, run this:
$ ifconfig eth0
You should get output like this:

If so, it looks like you're in business. Since you don't have any other
machines on your network, there's not a whole lot more you can do. But y=

should be able to ping your own IP address:
