The AMD Athlon FX (consumer line, like a 64bit Duron) and AMD Opteron
(the really good stuff, like a 64bit Athlon XP) are 64bit processors.
The Athlon XP is not.
His note about AMD64 was not related to your post except that it was
related to your distro. However, relatively few people have 64bit PCs,
so far.
