If you're using rpm to install/manage the kernel(s) type:
rpm -q kernel
This should list all the kernels installed on the system.
My system (fedora) displays:
kernel-2.4.22-1.2140.nptl
kernel-2.4.22-1.2149.nptl
I can then remove the older one with:
rpm -e kernel-2.4.22-1.2140.nptl
It's a good idea to keep a backup kernel installed and make sure you're
not removing the one that is currently configured to boot.
