VHS to movie file?

My webdude, Ely, does this all the time. He has several formats
available. Although he charges for his labor, I've always found his

Anyone have a clue who would convert a VHS tape to some sort of movie
file? Client gave a five-minute videotape to me and says, "Here put
this on our web page." Uhhhhh.... yeah sure.

Any suggestions appreciated.
