A bit late, but still jam-packed with open-source action nonetheless.

[ DeLUG Announcements ]

.: New Web Address

Thanks to Andrew, we now have our website hosted on Linux servers running
Apache at no charge. The new address is located at
http://delug.pokadotdog.com.

.: Meetings

The next meeting will take place on Thursday, January 8th at 7.00 PM AZ.
Because this meeting will discuss wireless networking and directional
antennas, the meeting will be located at *Cafe Wired* rather than the
usual Rm. 209. The meeting will be more Stammtisch-like and casual,
lacking a projector and presentation. Instead, the meeting agenda will be
composed of demonstrations on wireless software and hardware, along with
technical discussion and coffee-drinking. The meeting will also be
somewhat shorter, and will officially end when Cafe Wired closes at
9.00pm, although we can also stay a little longer out in the
courtyard/parking lot if anyone wants to test antenna gains.

As announced in the last meeting, the Phoenix IEEE Computer Society will
be holding a meeting on Wednesday, January 14th at 6.00 PM AZ. This
meeting will feature guest speaker Alex Vrenios, who will be speaking on
implementing Linux Clusters for distributed computing systems. We will
initially meet with the Computer Society in the courtyard for sandwiches
and stuff before heading off to Rm. 207 for the presentation. Special
thanks to Bob Bianca and the Computer Society for inviting DeLUG to this
event.

DeLUG will be holding a meeting on Thursday, January 22nd at 7.00 PM AZ at
Rm. 209 featuring SAMBA, a utility in Linux which is used to share files
and printers, among other things, on a Windows network. This utility is
esepcially useful when integrating Linux systems into a Windows network.
We'll also discuss meetings for the month of February.

As always, DeLUG meetings are open to the public, so feel free to bring a
couple of friends who might also be interested in any of these events.

.: WANTED: Sound Equipment

DeLUG will soon have its meetings audibly recorded and made downloadable
from the DeLUG website in both MP3 and Ogg Vorbis formats, much like what
was done at Defcon for those not talented enough to be at 20 lectures and
conferences at once. In order to accomplish this, however, we'll need
sound equipment to capture audio and store it in a digital format.
Things like wireless microphones, sound capture equipment, etc. I will be
asking the remaining members of what used to be the Amateur Radio Club to
see they might have something we can use. E-mail me back at this address
if you can obtain anything we could borrow.
