New Debian Install / Network Settings

Carl, Hans and all,

Thank you very much for your input. My apologies for
not replying sooner.

It turns out that repurposing an old computer for use
with linux may have hidden costs. For instance, over
the course of the week, the hard drive failed on this
old donated computer... taking with it my new Debian
install that I was so excited about using.

I will make an attempt to rebuild the operating system
(although i doubt it will be as clean of an install
Marcia and Rares did at the install fest).

I have also saved your responses to a text file and
will refer to them again on this attempt.
