Debian, Xfree-4, Voodoo 3

I just attempted to finally upgrade from v3 to v4 on Xfree.
It has not gone well.

I have installed libglide...2 & 3, I have compiled and
insmod' 3dfx.o, I have the line

driver "glide"

in my config file all to no avail. I get the error message
"No screens found" and right above that it says no device
detected.

I had used svga server in v3, so I have tried driver = vga with
a resolution of about ~100 x 80 :-) it is horrible.

Is anyone using one of these old cards? I say old, maybe 3-4 years :-)
Is is also AGP if that makes a differance.

I need to get X back up as soon as possible as Dia and Lyx are tough
from the command line :-)
