Audacity should do it just fine. I will say that I've increased the volume of
a number of audio files (and mostly, audio parts of video files) in the past
and I've tended to prefer just turning up the player volume while listening.
Increasing the file's internal volume tends to distort the sound too much.
You start hearing muddy bass and irritatingly squeeky highs.
