Subject: Job Announcement: SQL Programmer
Launched in 1997, the Cisco Networking Academy Program has evolved from a
high school network support curriculum to a worldwide educational program
to advance the Internet Economy. The Academies and Ecosystem partners
expand tsponsibilities including writing procedures, support, backup,
security and general troubleshooting. Although you will be working with
the senior DBA there are many instances in which you will have to display
independence and initiative.

Responsibilities include working with a team of other programmers/analysts
developing applicationseries and scripts against the Data Warehouse (DW)
for Quality Assurance (QA).

Individual must have strong interpersonal, time-management, and
communication (oral and written) skills and be able to work closely with
other team members and with client representatives. Attention to detail is
a must

Skills: You will have outstanding perl and SQL programming skills coupled
with sound experience of a UNIX type operating system. You will need to
have or quickly acquire an understanding of web hosting and server
administration concepts in order to be able to write automation software
in these fields.

*** Absolutely essential:
o experienced in Unix/Linux/Solaris
o experienced in SQL Programming (Ideally fully versed with mySQL and
Oracle specifics)


*** Knowledge in the following specific areas will be required
o Perl Programming
    - DBI
    - CGI Scripts
    - Use of perl scripts to automate administration of UNIX systems


o Web Site Hosting Concepts
    - Apache web server



*** Preferred skills/abilities/attainments: Knowledge in the following
areas would be advantageous but is not essential (these are in order of
importance):

o Knowledge of:
    - programming complex cursors and stored procedures
    - Data Warehousing


o Experience with:
    - XML
    - working with large scale databases
    - providing database support to frontend developers
    - transforming data from a production oriented database to formats
usable in other programs
    - web development
    - Shell Scripting


o PL/SQL Programming

o Education:
    - BS in CS or related field


o Experience:
    - Three+ years related IT experience


o Software Development Project Management
    - Planning
    - Co-ordination
    - Testing



Compensation: This position is as a contract worker through a local
employment agency.
- Salary is commensurate with experience.

This position is located at 24th Street and Camelback in Phoenix. Persons
applying for the job should expect to work onsite at this location.

The schedule for this position is generally 8 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday.
These hours are generally flexible and alternative schedules can be
discussed with the team lead in advance of such schedule changes.

There is potential within this position to telecommute on a part-time
basis. Those arrangements must be approved in advance by the Team Lead.
