font server question

Okay... I have a question about using a font server. What are the
advantages of using xfs with X?

I know it allows you to share fonts wtih multiple computers from one
font server... but what I want to know is what are the benefits to me?
I running linux on a laptop, I dont' share fonts with any other
machines...so what are the other benefits if any? is there a
disadvantage with hardcoding the fonts?
