apt-get remove

How can I do a apt-get remove where it will delete all configuration
files, plugins etc regarding nessus.

I have done an apt-get remove and then while in /etc rm -R nessus
although now when I install nessus via apt-get the configuration files
are not being put in the /etc/nessus folder and no nessus folder is
being created.

I think that if I completely remove nessus via apt-get then I can do an
apt-get install nessus.
