If the 'apt-get update' gets interrupted you'll possibly have corrupt
package lists. Rerunning 'apt-get update' will fix that.
if 'apt-get dist-upgrade' gets interrupted you could end up with partially
downloaded packages or packages that are partially installed. Rerunning
'apt-get dist-upgrade' will continued downloading from where it was ( per
file, so if you have half of the new version of ssh, it'll get the other
half and doesn't have to refetch the first half ) and will continue
unpacking and configuring packages from where it was interrupted.
It's better not to interrupt dist-upgrades as that might leave some package=
s
in an unusable state, but it's usually recoverable as long as apt, debconf,
and dpkg aren't the borken packages :).
