We can do anything we have time an resources to complete. Rewriting the
kernel might not be a good idea, though :).
For this, what we want to do is partition such that user data is on one
partition and the OS is on another.
The OS could then be copied to yet another partition.
Something else we should consider is backup solutions. We make putting
something in place part of our normal install.
Backups would have to be to the same disk, so not a great solution, but
better than nothing.
