You will need to compile your kernel without PCMCIA support. Then,
install the pcmcia-source package. Then "cd /usr/src && tar -xzf
pcmcia-cs.tar.gz". Then go back to your kernel source tree and run
make-kpkg again, this time using "modules_image" (instead of the
"kernel_image" or similar you used to build the kernel .deb package).
