how to reboot a system when it will not reboot

Subject: how to reboot a system when it will not reboot
"/sbin/shutdown -t1 -a -r now" does not work, what is the best way to nic=
ely reboot a system when that does not work?

Also what would work if I had it compiled in the kernel is magic sys requ=
est, I do not have this compiled in though.

I do not want to just press the power button :(

ALT-PRINTSCREEN-S =3D Sync Disks
ALT-PRINTSCREEN-U =3D unmount/remount read only
ALT-PRINTSCREEN-B =3D Reboot (does not go through shutdown)
