If you are starting X from a gdm session make sure you check the line in
your gdm.conf that starts your X server. If it has -nolisten tcp in it
you will not be able to start a remote X session. If you are trying to
use ssh make sure that the server has xforwarding turned on and the
client either needs it turned on in the config or you need to use the -X
option. Also a -C (compression) option will help if you are going over
the internet.
hope this helps some.
