This is just off the top of my head but:
there is an /etc/mkinitrd directory that contains all the files for
configureing mkinitrd you can check these files although by default they
should e set up enough to get most computers booting right.
otherwise just use mkinitrd at the command prompt with the kernel
version as an argument and it should create one in
/boot/inird.img-<kernelversion> and a link to it from /initrd.img
you will have to add initrd=/initrd.img to your lilo.conf file.
hopefully this should atleast get you going in the right direction.
