If you're looking for analog capture using a usb device, I might ask the
MythTV-users list (http://www.mythtv.org). MythTV is an opensource
TiVo-like project that has far exceeded tivo in every way IMHO. I'm sure
the people there will be more than happy to recommend a usb capture
device, even if it doesn't have a TV tuner, or at least point you
somewhere helpful.
