Knoppix runs off the CD without touching the hard drive, so it's a safe way
to play. I'm using it right now as I'm at a friend's dog-sitting and her
computer is configured the way I like it.

Distributions will have most everything you need. Knoppix does a good job o=
f
hardware detection. If you like it, you can install to hard drive directly
from the Knoppix CD. I've done that for two people recently. Knoppix
requires 2.2 GB of hard drive space to install.
The GNU/Linux Stammtisch might be a bit of a drive if you're in .wi.us, but
there's bound to be a local LUG up there, maybe even one at Concordia.
If you're in town, then show up to Bandersnatch a week from tonight. Info i=

the FAQ section of the PLUG web site.
