Some of the kernel-patch packages are dependent on the 2.4.16 kernel
which was the most recient to make it into 3.0 stable before the feature
freeze. The 2.4.18 kernel was included in 3.0r1 and some, but not all
of the patches have been updated for it.

If you are going to rebuild your kernel with some of the kernel patches,
stick to 2.4.16. Otherwise go with 2.4.18.
