My mail jam has been fixed. At the same time, it
appears also to have solved my problem with AOL mail,
which is a big relief.
*DON'T LAUGH*, but ...
J> define(`SMART_HOST', `smtp.west.cox.net')

I do.
Because the dingblasted thing was commented out, and I
was sufficiently ignorant of m4 and in a hurry, and --
well what can I say -- too *stupid* to recognize
instantly that the "dnl" prefix comments it out. Duhhh.
Actually, I'm sure I realized it, but was simply blind
to its existence.
Well it ain't commented out any more, and after
rerunning m4 on the macro file, then restarting
sendmail, my mail queue flushed in about 30 seconds.
Problem solved.
Once again, abundant thanks to those who patiently
spared the time to help me. It's truly appreciated.
