OT: independant consultancy, breaking in to the business

I missed the last Stammtisch to attend an entrepreneur's boot camp in
Tucson. The Stammtisch would have been the best place to ask this, in
person. Failing that, I'm asking here.

The people who do consulting in this group keep saying that they have a
full calendar. How do I get to this state from scratch?
