I have used it several times under NetBSD. (And I did have problems; I
chowned the $HOME/.kde/share/kde/config/kppprc file for each user and
added "noauth" to my /etc/ppp/options because of a "remote system is
required to authenticate itself" problem.)

I prefer to use xisp. It has become quite useful in the past year.

(Usually, I just hand-code the pppd and chat configs myself, but use xisp
for workstations that I set up for others.)
