Boot Load lock-up

I am using RH7.2, when I go into interactive start-up it gets as far as
"Bringing up Interface ppp0, the it loacks up. Does any one have any
sugestions?
I have reinstalled hoping that would cure it, no luck. Thanks in advance
for any help
you may give me.
