Samba rejects password change

Hello,

When I use smbpassw to change my samba password, I get the following:

machine 127.0.0.1 rejected the password change: Error was : RAP86: The
specified password is invalid.

But it still lets me set the same password for the user, if I login(or sudo)
to root.
