Fwd: Pre-Sales Engr Job Opening

You have to actually sell someone on the idea of your capabilities if
you don't have the experience. But the job and it's responsibilities
would have to be commensurate to the risks that someone would take by
hiring somebody without experience. After all, even a brain surgeon had
to start with the first surgery...but it surely wasn't the brain
surgeon's first time in an operating theater when he did it.

I sold the first programming job that put me into business without a
clue as to how I was going to actually do it, I priced it what I thought
was low and figured that I would lose money just for the learning
experience...if you want someone to take some risk with you, you have to
be willing to take some risk yourself.

People feed off of others confidence and thus, when you don't offer real
experience, you would have to do a heck of a selling job to replace the
confidence that you've done that job before.
