Depending on the position, checking mail is fine. For instance, I'm writing
this from work :). Much of my "personal" mail is related to work because I
interact with technical groups via my own domain.
Email and irc has solved 3 technical issues for me today. My employer also
benefits from my participating in public forums. I'm a more skilled employe=
e
and they get semi-free advertising.
In my particular case, I also often get work email to my home account even
though I go to great effort to keep the two separate.
I also use my home connection and my boxen at home as further points of
reference when working on stuff, not to mention the notes, etc. I have
stored at home.
There are limits, though, and apparently this person has crossed those
limits.
