The government doesn't need you to fill out a web form to get this
information; they already have it. The Defense Department's Information
Awareness Office (http://www.darpa.mil/iao/) is working on a database to
track the activities (credit card transactions, travel arrangements,
education history, housing, fingerprints, medical records, etc.) of all of
us. It's called the Total Information Awareness (TIA) System. Check this
out: http://www.darpa.mil/iao/TIASystems.htm. It's headed up by none other
than John "Iran-Contra" Poindexter. I thought I was being clever by
refusing to give my phone number to cashiers that ask for it when you buy
something (why the hell does Babies-R-Us need to know my phone number when I
buy diapers?). Silly me! I'm usually dismissive of "conspiracy theories,"
but it looks like Big Brother really is watching now. "Scientia est
potentia,"[1] indeed.

Oops, gotta run. John Ashcroft is holding on line two.
