Updating the kernel.... again!

I need verification on this.
When I up grade the kernel the first thing I should do with the rpm is to=
move=20
it into the boot directory? If I am incorrect in this matter what directo=
ry=20
do I move it into if any at all. The last time my computer crashed I thin=
k=20
that I moved it into the boot directory and then opened it and I was thin=
king=20
that is what caused my destruction.
