Sendfax and Mandrake 8.2

Hi, all-

Is anyone in the group familiar with Mgetty-sendfax and how to
install/configure? I have installed it on my PC (running Mandrake Linux
8.2) but it will only run as root. I am baffled by this, as I have
checked repeatedly, and the executable file is set up to be executable
by owner, user and others. The various config files also show apparently
correct permissions. What is going on here, and how can I get this working?
