1. Try tar -xzvf rdeskt~1.gz
the x option extracts
the z option says use gunzip
the v option is for verbosity
the f option must goo beforee the file name because it says to use a
file for input.
2. the ~ is from the dos file systems's lack of long filename support.=20
try vfat when mounting
mount -t vfat /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppydos
then look andd see.
Also, cp syntax:
cp source [sources] destination
