moin, moin,

I'm probably gonna wade into the thread later tonight, but for now I'd like
to remind everyone to chill.

I'm more opposed to HTML mail than most, but it isn't the end of the world.

The 'one true way of replying'[TM] is inline :), but there's no need to rip
someone's head off because he/she replies using a different style. Sometimes
Jim puts one sentence at the top in such a way that I expect further
clarification later, but after paging through all the irrelevant ( to his
reply ) text in the message all I get for my efforts is his sig which I see
on a very regular basis.

It's annoying, but it's no reason for us to hate each other.

My random sig that popped up for this message is very appropriate for the
topic at hand. This list ( like most PLUG activies ) is geared towards
information exchange. The purpose of the exchange for us to learn from each
other. That's difficult if we're at each other's throats. Yes, some of us
who know each other throw friendly jabs ( see the reference to Jim above
:), but the 'etiquette' thread seems to have left that friendly comraderie
behind :(.

Also please remember that 'netiquette' includes being sensitive to other
people's perspectives. Some people are new to all this. Some are just
grating. Deal with it. Lead by example.

Sorry about the all caps subject, but I want everyone to read this post.
Please take a deep breath, count to pi and continue the discussion with a
clear head.

I would like the thread to continue. In fact, I think we need to take some
points from it an list them on our mailing list pages. Rubber daggers only,
please :).

As usual, this is not a message from the management, rather my own personal
thoughts.

ciao,

der.hans
