Where can I get a good (and free) image editor?

You should already have one. Try the GIMP. Look under Graphics in the
menu or type

$ gimp

at the command line.

It does almost everything that Photoshop does, but it's about $700 less.

BTW, if jpilot isn't already installed, LinuxLookup.com has the howto
for getting jpilot to work with a Visor. Evolution is also supposed to
be Pilot (and Visor) ready, but I haven't tried it yet.
