new install problems

I have run fdisk from my bootable floppy disk (win98 recovery disk). I have
deleted all partitions and tried to install LINUX, I have created a primary
partition and it doesn't work either. If someone could give me some advice
on this I would appreciate it. I am reading some how-tos on the net while I
try to figure this out. I am just not sure I am doing the correct fdisks
with the correct program. C
