Yup. And my guess is that lpd spools it to disk before sending it to
printer; if your lpd spool is on an ext2 (/3?) partition, you're going
to hit the filesys max cap and truncate your file.
Try chunking the file or reformatting a partition to something else,
like reiser or xfs perhaps. YMMV.
