I have no experiance with "grub" most the howtos I've seen have been
with lilo.
I think you should try logging in as root on a console or xterm and type
                      cdrecord -scanbus
to see if your burner is already configured or seen anyways.
look in your grub.config file for an line like(not sure what grub looks 
like)      hdc=ide-scsi
Also the CDwriting HOWTO in you documentation  will help.
