It's fairly straightforward. www.linuxdoc.org has a great howto section.
You will need a domain and/or access to some DNS servers to set an MX record
for your machine. I've been using sendmail for years with no problems, but
others will swear by something else. Just don't advertise your new email
address till you are sure it works. ;)

post to the list quickly and you use Netscape to write mail.
