/dev Permissions

Could someone please tell me how to at least keep group permissions for
/dev/sound/ rwx? Occacsionaly, somewhere deep in a MDK8.2 config file
is a section saying which permissions should be on what files. Whenever
I chmod 777 -R /dev/sounnd/ , It changes back a little while later.
Could someone tell me what this is at least so I can tell it I'm
competent and I want my sound to work.
