Subject: Speed of the list
>From what I can tell the speed problems of the list started when Jim let
a message though moderation that was around 400k in size. Messages of
this size (and bigger) seem to immediatly plug up the works since it
gets sent out approx. 450 times, plus connection and negotiation times,
bounces... etc.etc... it all adds up to a lot of data. In the end I
seem to always see a similar thread to this start up when an decent
sized attachment goes out. Normal speed is somewhere around 5-15 min
depending on when your message went into mailman queue (which has a
built in delay of it's own).
The one problem that I did find was the clock was off by an hour so some
of the messages that people were claiming were significantly delayed,
weren't, they were just stamped with the wrong time. I have permenatly
fixed that problem by installing NTP so it should stay on the connect
time from now on.
Hopefully we can bounce messages with attachements in the future so we
don't see any more delays like a few days ago.

On another note, we should switching our bandwith to a new provider soon
and should be able to deliver the messages a little faster... hopefully.
